Pipe fitter labour hire in Sydney

Pipe fitters who can take an isometric, spool it, fit it, bolt it up correctly and prove it with a hydrotest. Carbon, stainless, process and utility pipework.

The trade

What our pipe fitters do on Sydney sites

Pipework is where a plant's problems hide. A pipe fitter on a Sydney site might be replacing a corroded run of firewater main at a terminal near Port Botany, installing a new CIP line in a beverage plant, re-routing compressed air and process services during a line relocation in Smithfield, or working flange by flange through a tie-in list during a shutdown at Kurnell or a water treatment plant in the west. The thread through all of it: read the isometric, get the geometry right, make the joint tight, prove it.

We supply pipe fitters and pipe fitter-welders to mechanical contractors, maintenance teams and process plants across Sydney and NSW, including the Hunter and the Illawarra. Some have a fabrication trade, some a mechanical trade, some are licensed plumbers who moved into industrial pipework. We ask what your job is before we decide which one you need.

  • Spooling and fit-up: isometric take-offs, rolling offsets, spool fabrication and site fit.
  • Flange management: gasket selection, bolt-up sequence, torque and tensioning to the joint procedure.
  • Testing: hydrotests and leak tests under your permit and ITP, documented.
  • Materials: carbon steel, stainless, alloy, and PE poly welders on request.

The Smart Standard

How we trade-test pipe fitters

We put a real isometric in front of them. Identify the spools. Count the fittings and flanges. Calculate a rolling offset: travel, set and run, with the right fitting angles. Then flanges: face types, gasket choice, bolt-up sequence and what torque means to a gasket. Then a hydrotest, start to finish: test pressure, isolation, gauges, hold time, what fails it and what to do when it does.

Fitter-welders also weld a 6G coupon. Everyone talks through confined space entry, permit-to-work and isolation, because a pipe fitter who cannot work a permit system safely is not a pipe fitter we send out.

  1. 01

    Isometric take-off

Spools, fittings, flanges and a rolling offset calculated from a real drawing.

  2. 02

    Flange and test walk-through

Gaskets, bolt-up sequence, torque, then a hydrotest from pressure to sign-off.

  3. 03

    6G coupon for fitter-welders

TIG root, fill and cap, visually inspected and sectioned where the role is coded.

  4. 04

    The rest of the standard

Ticket verification, VEVO, National Police Check, medical, psychometric profile and our safety induction.

Questions

Pipe fitter hire FAQs

What is the difference between a pipe fitter and a plumber?

Plumbing is a licensed trade covering water, sanitary and gas services in buildings. Industrial pipe fitting is process and utility piping built to engineering drawings and codes. Some of our pipe fitters hold both; for plant and process work, the pipe fitting experience is what matters, and that is what we test.

Can your pipe fitters weld?

We supply pipe fitter-welders who run a TIG root with stick or flux-core fill on carbon and stainless pipe, 6G qualified. If you prefer a fitter plus a dedicated pipe welder, we can pair them.

Are they trained in flange management?

Yes. Our pipe fitters understand gasket selection, bolt-up sequence, torque and tensioning, and we check that understanding in the trade test. If your site runs a specific joint integrity procedure, we brief them on it before day one.

Can they run hydrotests?

Yes, under your permit and ITP. They understand test pressure, isolation, gauges, hold times and documentation, and they know a failed test is reported, not hidden.

Do you supply stainless and hygienic pipe fitters?

Yes. For food, beverage and pharmaceutical plants we supply fitters experienced in sanitary stainless, tri-clamp and hygienic fittings, CIP systems and the cleanliness those sites demand. See our food & beverage page.

Are their confined space and heights tickets current?

We verify every ticket against the issuing body before a worker starts, and we track expiry dates so a lapsed Confined Space or Working at Heights ticket never turns up at your gate.
