Industrial electrician labour hire in Sydney

Licensed electricians who can fault-find a stopped line, not just pull cable. Motor control, VSDs, PLC I/O, HV switching and instrumentation. Plant electricians, tested by plant electricians.

The trade

What our electricians do on Sydney sites

An industrial electrician's day in Sydney is measured in downtime. When a packaging line in Wetherill Park trips at three in the morning, when a conveyor drive at a distribution centre in Erskine Park will not reset, when a crane at a Port Botany terminal loses a limit switch, someone has to isolate, test, find the fault, get it running and write it up. That is who we supply. Not a domestic sparky looking for a change, but electricians who have worked plant.

Smart Industrial was built on electricians, so this is the trade we know best. We supply industrial and heavy-commercial electricians to manufacturers, food and beverage plants, logistics operators, utilities and contractors across Sydney, from Padstow and the Bankstown industrial area out through Western Sydney, down to Wollongong and up to Newcastle and the Hunter.

  • Maintenance electricians: fault-finding, breakdowns, preventive maintenance, motor changeouts.
  • Installation electricians: switchboards, cable tray and ladder, motors, lighting, commissioning.
  • Controls: VSDs and soft starters, PLC I/O and basic logic, HMIs, sensors and interlocks.
  • Specialists: HV switching operators, instrumentation technicians and hazardous-area electricians.

The Smart Standard

How we trade-test electricians

Electricians sit a practical with one of our own electrical tradespeople. It starts with the non-negotiable: isolate, lock out, test for dead, prove the tester. Then a motor control circuit with a fault in it, a failed coil, a tripped overload, a welded contact, and they find it with a meter and a schematic, not by swapping parts. They read a termination drawing, terminate and gland a cable properly, and talk through VSD parameters and a PLC I/O fault.

We check the licence on the NSW Fair Trading register, confirm CPR and LVR currency, and ask how they would approach a line that trips intermittently. Only after all that do they go through the rest of The Smart Standard.

Used Smart Industrial for a small electrical job, 10/10 service. I was extremely satisfied with the work they did, would definitely recommend!

Questions

Electrician hire FAQs

Are your electricians licensed in NSW?

Yes. Every electrician we supply holds a current NSW electrical licence, which we verify on the NSW Fair Trading public register. Interstate licence holders are recognised under mutual recognition before they start, not after.

Can they fault-find, or only install?

Fault-finding is the core of our trade test. Each electrician has found an injected fault on a motor control circuit with a meter and a schematic in front of one of our electrical tradespeople. If you need pure installation crews for a project, tell us and we will match accordingly.

Do you supply HV switching operators?

We supply electricians with HV switching training and experience. Switching authorisation is always issued under your site's rules and network requirements; we make sure the paperwork and currency are in order so that process is quick.

What about instrumentation and hazardous areas?

Yes. We have Certificate IV instrumentation technicians for loop checks, calibration and commissioning, and EEHA-qualified electricians for classified zones at fuel terminals and chemical plants. Both are in shorter supply, so give us notice where you can.

Can I get an electrician for a weekend or a single shift?

Yes. Shift cover and short engagements are a normal part of what we do. Tell us the shift, the site and the work, and we will confirm what we can fill and at what rate.

Do they bring tools and test equipment?

Hand tools, a meter and PPE, yes. Specialised test equipment, calibrators and site-specific gear are normally supplied by the plant. If you need an electrician with specific instruments, say so in the brief.

Do you also supply electrical trade assistants?

Yes. Ticketed trade assistants for cable pulling, tray installation and support work, so your licensed electricians stay on the licensed work.
